Attendance 2025 - What can we do?

***Families of Kingswood Community College***

As we enter this new school year, it is important to set in place the routines and habits that will best support our students.

Attendance is a particular focus for 2025-26. To aid in parent-school communication, we have extended our VSWare permission to allow parents to explain absences. This can be done on your VSWare mobile app. https://support.vsware.ie/en/submit-an-absence-request

For our part, we will also support attendance through.

- Communication with home regarding absences

- Attendance drives for all year groups

- Attendance awards

- Multi-tiered Attendance approach (see full details Attendance supports)

In return, we are asking parents to offer the following supports

- Prioritise Attendance every day

- Use the VSWare app to communicate absences

- Support students in getting to school on time (be aware of traffic)

- Discuss Attendance and its importance with your child

- Do not schedule holidays during term time

With our combined effort, high levels of attendance are achievable for each and every student. This habit will ensure they get the most out of their time here including academic support, extracurricular achievements, relationships and life skills.

Kingswood community college appreciates your support in this matter.
