Student Leadership

Student leadership in KCC empowers students to take responsibility, represent their peers, and contribute to school life. Through roles such as student council, eco club, digital leaders, house captains, prefects, and head students, students develop confidence, communication, and teamwork skills while promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and positive change across the whole school community.

Message from Head Students

As Head Students, we have had the privilege of representing our school community and contributing to a number of meaningful initiatives throughout the year. One of our highlights was supporting the launch of the NFL Flag programme at our school, where we assisted during the visit of American football players and welcomed RTÉ as they televised the event.

We were also proud to chair our school’s first Student Leadership Meeting. This provided an important platform to discuss student concerns and strengthen communication across all areas of school life.

During the festive season, we had the opportunity to judge the annual Christmas Door Competition alongside local councillor Mick Duff, celebrating the imagination and festive spirit on display.

Additionally, we played a key role in leading our school’s first assemblies that included all Junior and Senior students. At these assemblies, we spoke about our school values and had the honour of presenting awards, recognising the achievements of students in our school.

These experiences have allowed us to grow as leaders, work collaboratively with others, and contribute positively to school life, something we will carry forward beyond our time here.

Senior Prefect Team 25/26

Working alongside the Head Students are the Senior Leadership team, comprised of prefects in both 5th and 6th year. They work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that all school events go smoothly, and to ensure that the school is a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. The team was assembled and was involved in the organisation of the subject fair, and the open evening for the incoming first years. They were instrumental to the creation of the Yearbook. They are reliable and hardworking, and along with the Head Students, they strive to give every student a voice and make them feel heard in the school.

Message from Student Council

The student council 25/26 has had a very busy and occupying year. This group helped organise events, fundraisers and much more. The student council have two representatives from each year group we have: Sophie Jennings, Chris John, Conor Kelly, Charlene Thomas, Senan Farrell, Grace Power, Riley Hamilton, Marek Gordon, Leighton Lawless, Liam Storey, Keela Farrell and Sven Butorac.

This year's student council have helped the school in many ways by working with staff members, students, and members of the community. Student council members this year held a jersey day, and student donations went to GOAL charity, showing consideration for those in need. We also organised the annual Halloween dress up day and Christmas jumper day. The student council this year also pushed for the new school camera! This camera will help the school in many ways such as at the TY musical, the members stayed for both nights of the musical to help and take high quality photos for the school to look back on. The school will be able to use this camera for many different events.

Overall, throughout this year student council have really given it their all to help and make KCC a better environment. We look forward to another exciting year next year
