The Parents’ Association at Kingswood Community College is a highly active association and is open to all parents and guardians. It is friendly, informal, and productive. Since its inaugural meeting in 2016, the Association continues to work in close partnership with senior management and staff. It is a valued and vital link between the College and the parents of our students which plays a key role in the life of the College. During the academic year, the Association hold monthly meetings. These meetings give parents a forum for discussion, opportunities to address trends in education and policy development. Two parents also represent the parent body on the Board of Management.
In 2021, the Parents Association continue to work developing and reviewing College policies. Moreover, the Association continues to offer other services including its work on establishing a system for uniform donations. These preowned uniforms are then passed on to new first year students and offered out to out student body. The association also organises for 24 Hour accident insurance information to be circulated to all parents and arrange the policy for those interested. This year fund raising was completed by an old clothing collection – funds raised have been used to purchase new Goal-posts for the new soccer pitch. Approaching Christmas, the Parent’s Association ran their festive Christmas raffle that was well supported by prize donations varying from vouchers to hampers and cash prizes. A great buzz surrounded the draw and lots of happy faces left with their raffle winnings!
The main aims of the Parents’ Association are:
- To represent the views of parents and guardians.
- To inform parents and guardians of developments in the College and in the wider area of education.
- To foster co-operation between parents/guardians, teachers and College Management.
- To raise funds for the benefit of the students in the College.
